How to get ready for the next examination of English language

30 November 2020

How to get ready for the next examination of English Language

Some suggestions

1/ download and print on paper: Parallel Papers & Words

2/ try to learn skeleton of verbs [PPA, first pages], but not all of them

3/ revise and study vocabulary from every lesson [WORDS]
-use a highlighter / ball pen to underline those words you know-

4/ have a bird´s eye view of the things you need to learn: BOOK, notebook, MOODLE texts, practice, documents

5/ use a dictionary

6/ get used to reading: messages, news, texts

How do I get used to reading?
Every single day, if I get free time, no matter where I am, subway, public road, home, school, company. I will read something in English. And I have downloaded many English reading apps and News apps, even read interesting answers in Quora.

After step by step, I get quite familiar with the vocabularies, even though there are thousands of words I am struggled with, but I don’t feel uncomfortable anymore.

Now, I keep the same habit as routine, and every day I read at least 30 pages in an English textbook and freestyle reading during the rest of the time.

Finally, I have to say, there is no shortcut, not at all. Only master it through reading, reading, and reading“. (Erasmus Yan. July 13, 2018.-QUORA)

You can only get used to reading by reading. Try starting with short books and light material, then gradually move on to longer and denser subjects. Since I have attention deficit problems, I couldn’t read for more than 10 minutes straight a year ago. Now I’m used to it and regularly read in 3–4 hour bursts and occasionally as much as 15 hours a day if I happen to get my hands on something I’m passionate about. I would recommend easing your way in with lighter material.” (Andrew Holmes. July 15, 2018. QUORA)

7/ get used to listening English talk (audios, TV series, short videos)

8/ distinguish THEORY from PRACTICE. Learn the concepts you must learn by heart. See which of the parts of theory are BASICS, e.g: cardinal numbers, how to tell the time, etcetera
