 dialogues (useful language) / dictation (listening from an audio podcast, textbook or teacher´s ) / short paragraph of a written text for translation (use of dictionary)

Un profesor necesita un calendario, una programación, un temario, libros y material accesorio, espacio para teoría y espacio para práctica. Un profesor organiza un curso en conceptos, usos y exámenes. Todo lo que se explica tiene que ser evaluado en los alumnos para saber si la explicación ha sido efectiva. Enseñar consiste en esto.

Un profesor explica y un alumno entiende. En caso de que no suceda de esta manera no podemos hablar de enseñanza o educación.

El profesor quiere que sus alumnos aprendan y, si es posible, se aficionen a su asignatura. Planificar adecuadamente una clase a lo largo del año académico supone la dedicación de la clase a tratar teoría, realizar prácticas, reforzar conocimientos, resolver dudas, etcétera. Además, una buena planificación implicaría la adquisición de vocabulario, la consulta de manuales y diccionarios, una querencia creciente por saber.

En una clase de Inglés debería haber muchas audiciones, dictados y actividades de role-play. En una clase de idioma tendría que ser obligatorio leer textos en voz alta, traducir frases o párrafos enteros, usar el diccionario, resolver ejercicios escritos, repetir letras, palabras o modismos a coro, memorizar vocabulario, construir una base sólida de gramática.

No sería mala idea utilizar medios virtuales o informáticos como el Aula Virtual de MOODLE para propagar avisos, repasos de nociones, ejercicios o traducciones. Mediante el Aula Virtual pueden compartirse enlaces de audios o vídeos, imágenes y textos. Podría aprovecharse esta vía para facilitar soluciones de ejercicios o pruebas.

Una buena clase de Inglés sigue fuera del aula mediante tareas para casa, lecturas, podcasts o viajes al Reino Unido, entre otras ideas.

The ideal class period should contain some of these:

1.Revision

2.Sentences /SMS/ to translate, transform, put in order, make  changes, etc. Also some words to write, learn and use.

3.Board (icons, homework, data) . Audio listening. Oral and written skills exploited. Use of Functional Language or Useful language.

4.Reading aloud. Essay writing task. Dictation. Translation
