Educated by Tara Westover
‘If I could turn back the clock, I’d go back in time and read Tara Westover’s compelling memoir, “Educated,” for the first time. It’s an absolutely fascinating look at her upbringing, which took place on an isolated mountain with fundamentalist Mormon survivalist parents who removed themselves and their seven children from society. She did not receive a formal education and did not set foot in a school until she attended college, ultimately earning her PhD from Cambridge University. Her childhood couldn’t have been more unconventional — she was often in unthinkable situations that are difficult to read. Her journey to personal freedom is a testament to her inner fortitude and deep intelligence. Her smart prose makes you feel like you’ve stepped into another world entirely, giving you an unflinching look at the reality of life with a cult-like family. I read it in three days, unable to put it down.’

“Have you ever met one of those women whose startling beauty defies the assaults of time, and who seem at thirty-six more desirable than they could have been fifteen years earlier? Their faces are impassioned souls; they fairly sparkle; each feature gleams with intelligence; each possesses a brilliancy of his own, especially in the light”

After having known the text Symposium a reader feels a little wiser.

One might think there is a good theory on love.

“¿Por qué se muere la gente?” (Íñigo Domínguez)

¿Por qué se muere la gente?

Íñigo Domínguez

JotDown -Contemporary Culture Mag-; octubre, 2018

A vampire sucks my blood in the night

When I am alone, asleep -or so I think- there he comes.

Insomnia makes me feel & think  or nothing.

The mysterious, gentle vampire demands one more vein,

The writing chain of that bloody verse of mine
