‘Work and smartphone, two words that really don’t go well together. Impossible to count how many times we get distracted by our smartphones as we work. This device, however, is also key in staying connected, and is often essential in many scenarios.

This has happened to all of us at least once: innocently, we take our smartphone to check the time, and without really realizing what happened, it has been 10 minutes since we scroll down our social media feed…’

All along 293 pages Erika Peters writes about walking in “The Complete Idiot´s Guide to Walking for Health” published in Alpha Books. Indianapolis, 2001. The structure of the handbook helps beginners (anyone who can walk) move the right way. The book contains 5 parts:

1/Building a Daily Habit for Health´s Sake (scheduling, balance movements, heart rate, gear)

2/Progressing Safely (walking alone or not, dumbbells?, “pain no gain”, distance and time)

3/Walking for Weight Loss ( diet, keeping a log, changing habits)

4/Walking as a Lifestyle (setting goals, training, clubs)

5/Your Feet (walking shoes, socks, insoles, wounds)

And there are two appendixes on resources and meanings of specific vocabulary of the walking world

The conclusion or principal idea one gets from the guide is the principle of making the act of walking in a daily habit

I started walking seriously weeks ago. I confess this idiot´s guide was useful to me.

I revise some pages today
