ON THE OUTSIDE
My sister and brother have a close relationship and I am always pushed out.-Deidre Sanders
6 Nov 2020

DEAR DEIDRE: I FEEL pushed out by my siblings.

My sister talks to my brother more than me.

Asperger’s makes it difficult to talk about my feelings

She is always FaceTiming and phoning him but she never talks to me.

She is 21 and my brother is 19. I don’t hear from her unless it is in our chat on Facebook – which isn’t very often.

I’m a 17-year-old girl. I feel so down because I want to be included but I don’t know how to go about it.

I have Asperger’s syndrome, which they know about, but they have not been helpful in guiding me into conversations.

I want my sister to talk to me too. It is making me miserable.

DEIDRE SAYS: Asperger’s is probably making it harder for you tactfully to tell your sister how you feel but I guess that your sister does not mean to hurt your feelings but is unsure how to include you.

Tell your sister that you feel left out and would appreciate her help in being more involved in the chats.
