Unmarked tests might be a good strategy to get students involved in the dynamics of learning. From time to time, not as a rule of course, a teacher hands out a test in the classroom with no previous warning. That unexpected test could be used as a quality control, an ace up the sleeve* – the teacher´s- to fight against those pupils who systematically postpone examinations, or as a rule for discipline as well.
